Appraising and Auctioneering is my full time occupation. My areas of expertise in Personal Property include both Residential Contents and Business Furnishings and Equipment, for the benefit or purpose of Estates, Mergers, Corporate Dissolution, Bankruptcies, Equitable Distribution, Asset Financing, Creditor Factoring, Insurance and Charitable Gifts and Donations. I have twenty years experience appraising, evaluating and liquidating property of all kinds.

I operate as an independent contractor for various companies that utilize my services, including Fox & Associates. Additionally, I am President of The Auction Gallery Inc. I specialize in the sale, auction and appraisal of personal property for both estates and businesses, and have handled well in excess of fifty million dollars in personal property asset value. My firm is an approved contractor and appraiser for many varied institutions including the FDIC (and formerly the Resolution Trust Corp. – RTC), the Virginia State Treasury Department, Hanover County, other Government bodies and many other private sector banks, law firms, retailers as well as individuals. My firm has been thrice recognized in the Rising 25 – the top 25 fastest growing private companies in central Virginia, as well as recognized in the Inc. 500 – the fastest growing companies nationwide over a five year period.

My education is ongoing and includes courses at the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), the Auction Marketing Institute, professional associations, museums and local colleges. These courses include areas of art history and appreciation, furniture styles and construction methods, identification of fakes and forgeries, and other related topics. I am licensed and bonded in Virginia and other states; I am a Senior Accredited Appraiser for International Society of Appraisers (ISA), and a Certified Auctioneer (CAI) from the Auction Marketing Institute at Indiana University. Currently, I am an instructor in appraising for the Virginia Auctioneers Association (VAA). Additionally, I am a candidate for an instructor with the Auction Marketing Institute and the National Auctioneers Association. I am licensed and/or certified in multiple states and perform work on the scope of local, regional, national, and internationally, as required.

Personal and firm memberships include the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), the Virginia Auctioneers Association (VAA), the Auction Marketing Institute (CAI) the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Retail and Carytown Merchants Associations, with family firm memberships in the Richmond and National Association of Realtors. Educational articles that we have authored have appeared in Virginia and national magazines.

All of my Appraisal Reports comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) as established by The Appraisal Foundation, and with the Code of Ethics of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA).
